She's a Trooper

Today has been a day. Eliza had her two month check up and is a healthy baby :) She is gaining weight well and has hit all of her milestones. We are so blessed to get good reports like these! But, at the end of the appointment she got 3 shots. I don't know who cried more, her or me!

Like a sleep-deprived, post-pregnancy brained woman, I rescheduled pictures for today. They were supposed to be on Monday, but Eliza woke up with a gunky eye. The picture at the top shows how she is feeling today. Thankfully, we were able to cheer her up to get some good ones. She was being such a trooper!

Look at that sweet face! Now, since we have gotten home, this is all she feels like doing. Her little cry sounds so sad right now. Hopefully she gets to feeling better soon <3

They are blooming :)

My roses are starting to bloom! The yellow rose below smells divine and there are tons of buds. I can't wait until they really get going. I'll post more pictures as they continue to bloom :)

Two Months Old!

Can you believe it?! I can't because sometimes it seems like yesterday and then other times it seems like 5 years ago. Our little baby was 2 months old yesterday :)

Looking through baby pictures, we found these two that are pretty close in age. With our powers combined, we made a pretty cute kid :)

We enjoyed Memorial Day by having some nice family time. Since it has been raining so much here, it was time to mow the yard. I looked outside and Angel and Coral were helping Michael - each time he came toward the house they led the way and each time he turned toward the back fence, they followed him. Teamwork!

The weather was gorgeous, so we drove to the Sunken Gardens, put Eliza in her stroller and got in a good walk. It must have worn her out, because I took this picture of her when we got back to the house :)

Another great visit

Sunday was a great day! We played board games and ate most of the day. We are all going to have to work off this weekend as far as sweets go! Nicole took the picture of Eliza and it almost looks like she is throwing up a peace sign! Love it :)

Sadly, Chad and Nicole had to leave this morning. To fill their bellies for a long car ride, we took them to breakfast at The Egg & I. They, of course, loved the waffles. These are goodbye pictures. But, they are tying the knot in 75 days, so we'll see each other soon!

They are here!

Nicole and Chad (AKA White Thunder) made the trek to Nebraska to see us. They got in about 1:30am on Friday and after hugging it out, we all went to bed. Friday, we all slept in and they got to meet Eliza when she woke up. Of course, they said "Look at all that hair", and also another one we get pretty frequently, "She's so pretty!".

We were bums all of Friday and just hung out most of the day allowing them to recoop from their drive. When Michael got home, we grilled some pork tenderloin and veggies for dinner and enjoyed each other's company. After dinner, Nicole decided that she needed ice cream, so she and White Thunder went out to find a grocery store. Since I can't have ice cream, I asked for a bag of Skittles... 2 lbs 9oz! Needless to say, I have shared and our tummies hurt from Skittles! We haven't even made a dent!
After dinner, we played two great board games: Quirkle and Blokus. We don't own Quirkle, but our good friend Brian let us use his copy this weekend. It seems that Chad and Nicole are a bit competitive with one another, so we a few games, but the outcome was always the same... Nicole was not the winner.

Michael has been off today, so after sleeping in, we cooked some breakfast and played some more Blokus. Nicole won today, so naturally, she likes the game much better. Since we have had too much junk food, all humans and dogs went on a walk because it was beautiful today. Eliza liked the idea of going on a walk because she was all smiles when we put her in her stroller :)

After the walk, we can back to the house to hang out more. We put Eliza in her swing for a bit while she was napping. When I got her out, she had expertly drenched the swing cover and so needed to be cleaned up and changed. After we changed her, I put her in her crib to wash her swing cover and realized that she looks so tiny in her crib! We never put her in it, so I hadn't realized how big it is. We'll do a similar picture in a few months to see how much she grows!

For dinner, White Thunder was craving a Reuben, so we took them to the Haymarket to eat at Lazlo's. Great food, great company! This is a picture of the cute couple with miss Eliza :)

When we got home, we bathed and fed Eliza. After lots of cuddling, we put her down and then played board games: Ticket to Ride, Tsoru, and Taboo. Great day!

Any day now!

We have 11 huge rose bushes in our front yard right next to the house and ANY day now they are going to bloom. The buds have been getting larger and larger, so each morning when I wake up, I take Eliza to the window hoping we have roses. One morning, I will get to tell her to "wake up and smell the roses!" Poor thing got stuck with super corny parents.

Speaking of waking up, this is the cute little face I get to wake up to each morning! No, I don't make her sleep in bows, but we do put one in when we are getting dressed. Looking at the picture on the right, I can't believe how long she is getting. I am not ready for her to get big yet!

Sleepy Baby

Michael has been off work the last 3 days, so we have been running errands. Eliza has been a trooper and is getting much better about going and doing. This is great news for me because I am starting to get a little antsy staying at home without being social. I think we have just wore her out because she has slept like a champ today!

Two bad words in our house are Pinterest and Living Social because they are money pits! These canvas are living social buys, which I got for a great deal. Each of the baby were $12 dollars! I have a feeling our house is going to start filling up with more Eliza faces :)

What a Great Sunday

Michael was off today, so we decided we would all go to church together. I created a cookbook at church and have been selling them, and so Harry, a gentleman at church, took our picture with the cookbook. Many people come over to our table since I have Eliza, so I have sold quite a bit :) It's ok to use your baby's good looks for good causes, right?

After church, the three of us went to Five Guys for lunch. Thankfully, their buns and fries are soy and dairy free, so as long as I do with out the cheese, I can pig out! After lunch, we put Eliza in her stroller and walked around campus for a while. The weather was beautiful and  it was nice to just stroll with Michael. Since we have had Eliza, we have stayed at home quite a bit. But, I think we are getting to the point where more outings can happen. The sound of thunder sent us back to the car, which was great timing because we had to get home and prepare a salad to take to the Tyners for dinner.

I was able to have conversations with adults! When we first got to the Tyners, Zac, Christy and Finn were there. We haven't seen them in over a year, so it was nice to catch up with them. We were able to stay at the Tyners for a good two hours, but with two small babies in the mix and an energetic 6 year old, we had to call it quits. So, Michael and I came home, got Eliza ready for bed and watched a couple Dr. Who episodes to get caught up. All in all, it was a great day!

With all this hair, I need a bow

The comment we hear the most when people meet Eliza is, "Look at all that hair!" I have tried  headbands, but they pop off the back of her head. When I was at the store, I bought her a bow to clip in her hair. I thought she looked adorable and wanted more, but they were $2 each. Being economically conscious (cough... cheap), I decided I could learn to make bows for pretty cheap. After spending about $15 at the craft store, we now have a growing collection of bows for her hair. I still have more to make, but we now have one for almost every color of outfit she has :) She is showing off her orange one in these pictures.

Eliza discovers her mouth

Over the past week or so, Eliza has learned that she has a mouth and that it is interesting. She is specifically interested in her tongue. When Michael and I are holding her and she feels skin next to her face, she investigates by licking us! It feels weird to have a little baby tongue licking you. She is also blowing little bubbles that eventually drool out of her mouth. During tummy time, I have to move her around because she soaks the place she is laying. Notice the little trail of where her head has been for play time. Silly baby :)

Playing outside

The weather has been beautiful... finally! Michael was off the past three days, so he stayed inside with Eliza and I got to play in the yard. Over the past two weeks, Michael and I have been to the home improvement store several times and have been able to get some things done in the yard.

We ordered a rain barrel, which I have watered the house plants with several times now :)

Our little tree that we bought a few weeks ago now has leaves and is looking very healthy.

I have been wanting a tumbling compost bin for several years now, but they are expensive at the store and I haven't found a DIY that I like... until now. I saw this project on Pinterest and Michael was awesome and did it for me. To turn the compost, you knock it over and kick it around. Totally doable ;) Now, in addition to curbside recycling, we are going to have very little trash!

By the end of the week, I hope to have our raised bed up and going with some of the veggies I bought and seeds that I have been waiting to plant.

I also got a stand for my Mother's Day azaleas that Michael got me. The blooms are starting to open up and are gorgeous. I hope to keep them alive!!

Sweet Baby Sounds

Eliza is becoming more and more vocal! She has a cute sound when she is content and then she has an almost cry that is more like a complaint rather than a fit. Since family is so far away, I thought I would upload  these two videos so you could see how cute she is!

A little curb appeal

Before
When we first moved in, we were told that our front yard is famous in the neighborhood for beautiful rose bushes. No pressure! I have been studying up on rose care, just so that I don't kill these popular bushes. So, I decided to clean the beds up a bit to make them more presentable.

We have 3 rose bushes in the white rock bed (which I do not like and have started changing, too), so I transplanted on of the rose rushes to the back corner in the photo in the left. I haven't gained enough patience to pull up the other two yet, but they will come out next. Weed, add a little mulch and...
After

I will post pictures of the entire job when I get all of the god-aweful white rock out of there!

Sleeping Beauty

Not a lot to say today other than she looks adorable when she sleeps. She likes to lay her hand under her chin and her other arm moves around and tickles your side when you are holding her! She's pretty adorable :)

Ready, Set, GROW!

Over the last few days, I have started to notice how much bigger she is then when we brought her home. Yesterday, before we went out, we have to move the straps on her car seat because they were getting to tight on her. I have had to pack all of newborn clothes because she can't fit into them anymore :( Now she is wearing 0-3 month clothes. She is already close to 10 lbs!

Every Tuesday morning, we go to Mom's group at Milk Works. I am always amazed when I look at kiddos just a few months, or even weeks older than her because they look SO much bigger. In just 2 months time, she will likely be rolling over! They grow too fast!

Yes, I am the cutest baby!

Today, our little Eliza is 6 weeks old! I can't believe how fast that went by and how much she has already changed. Michael, Eliza and I all went to my 6 week check up today with Dr. Bowers. I only have 12 pounds to lose until I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight and she said my incision is healing very well! While we were at the doctor, she started getting a little fussy, so Michael walked her up and down the hallway outside of the exam room. She has a pretty cute little cry, so all of the nurses were coming out of their offices and doting on her. "Look at all that hair," "Look how little she is," "What a pretty baby!" Lately, her response to these type of comments is to give a cute little smile... She knows she cute, look out world!

A Day of Many Outfits

The morning stated off well. She was in her nightgown and taking a nap after her morning feeding. I put her in her pack n' play to sleep while I did some housework. She started grunting, which she frequently does when she is waking up. I walked into the living room and found her sleeping on her side. I straightened her out and watched her for a bit. She started stretching and then stretched onto her side. She stayed like this for a while and seemed quite content. This proves that swaddling is important because I don't want her to do this while she is sleeping at night :)

When I picked her up, I was in for a surprise! She soaked through her diaper, through her night gown and through her blanket. It was pretty impressive. After cleaning her up and then changing her outfit to the one below, I thought that was "the" blow-out of the day.

She tolerated this outfit, given by Aunt Mekayla, for about an hour. Apparently she was done with it because she decided to spit up a considerable amount of meal. After changing both of us, because she is talented and was able to get me, too, I put her in her in another outfit.

So far, this outfit has survived. We'll see how much longer it's got. Needless to say, a bath is definitely in order tonight!

We need a TARDIS

Michael and I, being Dr. Who fans, have decided that we need to get close to the TARDIS! Several episodes ago, the Doctor was able to understand a baby speaking and we would LOVE to know what the little one is saying today.

Today is the first day that she has started "talking" instead of crying to get something. Although she doesn't look or sound completely happy in the video, she did this for about 10 minutes before we picked her up and cuddled with her just to see what she would do. Before we know it, she is going to be really talking. Moving too fast :/
