Enjoying Texas

This is our 4th day in Texas and so far we are having a great time. After the party last night, we came back to Michael's parents and hung out with Tommy, Emily and PJ. It was great to catch up with everyone.

 Later today, we are going to head up to Rockwall to begin wedding festivities for Nicole and Chad!

Over the last 2 days, Eliza has been a VIP and met many new people that she will learn to call family and friends. Tuesday, she got to meet her Vo (Michael's grandfather) and her VoVo (Michael's grandmother). Eliza is their first great-grandchild :)

For lunch, we finally got to meet a friend that we have made while trying to figure out our basement shenanigans.  Her name is Dianan and she is a friend of Walt's and now ours. She was so nice and just loved little miss Eliza.

Wednesday evening, my mom and I planned a get together of all of my family. Since we are so loved and had tons of people who wanted to spend time with us, we had a potluck at the park. Everyone brought something to go with burritos and came to sweat!

 Because it felt like 200 degrees outside, Michael and I would take turns sitting in the air conditioned car with Eliza bug to cool her off. Someone would usually take one for the team and sit in the car with us ;)

Longest Car Ride Ever!

As you have read before, Eliza hates her car seat. Because of this, I was a very worried momma. So, we thought that leaving insanely early when she is used to sleeping would be smart. We packed the car on Sunday night and so left the house at 6:30 am. The first 2.5 hours she slept and when she woke up, we fed her. That was the good part...

The remainder of the trip consisted of doing ANYthing we could to keep her calm. Michael and I took turns sitting in the back seat to entertain her. Once, when I was in the back seat, I told Michael that we needed to pull over to change her diaper. When he picked her up and turned her around, we saw that she had had a huge poop blowout! So, I held her up like Simba on the side of the road while he took clothes off and did his very best to clean her up. Proud of herself and feeling much better, she took a nap.

She finally let us know she was done when we were about an hour out. Since it is hard to focus on driving when a baby is screaming, we went ahead and pulled over for dinner at a Cheddars. During dinner, she was so happy to get out of the seat. She was blowing raspberries and talking, so much so that several people stopped at our table to oogle her. 

With a full tummy and dad keeping her company, we finally made it to Burleson, with a short pit stop to see Nanny. One way I know my baby loves me is that she slept from 9 pm to 5:30 am. I got sleep!!! Looking forward to a great trip :)

Playtime

Eliza is getting to the point where everything is tasty, although she doesn't quite have the coordination to get anything but her hands to her mouth. We were given the very popular Sophie and she likes to chew on it, but needs a little help getting in where it needs to go.

She is also to the point where laying down is boring! There is just not enough to see when you are on your back or tummy. This means that she wants to be held all day or practicing to sit up is so much fun. Add Sophie and it's a party! 

All this play time makes a baby very sleepy though... One minute she was practicing with tummy time and the next I look over and she is asleep :) Cutie pie!

But, I think we are in for a big problem. Everyone tells her that she is cute and I think she is starting to know it. One of her favorite tummy time activities is looking in the mirror. Watch out world, Eliza knows she's cute!

No Eggs

Since Eliza has been a little fussy lately, I began to think more about her 4 month check up and that her tummy still isn't ok. I called the doctor and asked what was the next thing I should experiment with taking out of my diet. The doctor said to take out eggs and wheat! After looking at what I would be able to eat if I couldn't have dairy, soy, wheat or eggs, I decided that I liked food more that just sticks and berries. I have decided to take out eggs and see if that makes a difference.

Anyway, since she was fussy, I broke out "NO TV" rule. Since she won't let me put her down, I decided to catch up on the one show that I watch even though I know it is ridiculous: America's Next Top Model. I became addicted to it when Eliza and I first came home because it was something that was free to watch on Hulu. Above is a pic of Eliza singing at the TV. She was kicking and talking the whole time. So what if I am a bad mom... I got an hour of no crying :)

4 Months (and some)

We were on our trip when Eliza bug turned 4 months old, so I just took her 4 month photos. Comparing them to the previous months, she is getting so big, so fast! Click here to see all of them.

A Few of Her Favorite Things

So last weekend, Eliza found her feet which are up there with the greatest things ever, next to food, her hands and drooling on herself. She is so proud that she has a new accomplishment! It's super cute when she is holding on to them, singing and loses her balance and falls over :)

Her next favorite thing is blowing raspberries. She surprised us all yesterday, after a dose of baby Tylenol, when she blew her first raspberry! All day today, she has been perfecting her new skill, which means she now needs to wear bibs, because she is a drool factory!
